Christian Legal Collaborative, Inc.
Currently, the CLC is run almost entirely by volunteers, although we are fundraising so that we can open a fully staffed site with a technology center (see "Services" tab).
Katina R. Werner, Executive Director & Senior Attorney
Ms. Werner is the founder of the CLC and currently continues to donate her time to lay the infrastructure for the project as the Executive Director until the project is fully funded. She currently provides limited direct services to clients, as well as to supervise other attorneys, law students, and paralegals in providing education and limited legal services in our CEOs / clinics and to oversee the creation of our Pro Se Assistance Center.
Prior to starting the CLC, Ms. Werner ran her own law practice serving low to modest income persons, non-profits, and small businesses for ten years. Before that, she was an Equal Justice Works Legal Fellow /AmeriCorps Pro Bono Legal Corps Member for two years, hosted at Legal Aid of Western Ohio (LAWO) and Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE) in Toledo, Ohio. She has also worked with the youth at her church in Toledo for approximately twenty-five years, where she currently serves as the Youth Director.
Volunteer commitments over the years have ranged from various Board commitments such as Toledo Women's Bar Association (TWBA) and Family Selection Committee of the Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity; to more active commitments in earlier years such asnthe Lucas County Crisis Response Team (responding to domestic violence calls) and in more recent years working with Tent City and the Josh Project for their community events.
Additional CLC staff will be added as funding allows. We are hoping to add a social worker as well as legal assistants.
